INQUIRY 21-04, EPP Security Update

Summary

The National Finance Center (NFC) has added a reCAPTCHA security measure to the Employee Personal Page (EPP). reCAPTCHA is a security check that allows Web applications to distinguish between human and automated access to secure pages.

Implementation

A reCAPTCHA security check has been added to EPP's Log In and Forgot Your Password pages.

reCAPTCHA Verification

After entering a user ID and password on EPP's Log In page or before completing a request to reset their EPP password on the Forgot Your Password page, users will be required to select a reCAPTCHA checkbox that reads, "I'm not a robot." In most cases, a green checkmark will appear, and the user may proceed with their request. In some cases, further verification may be needed, and users may be required to solve an additional challenge. If prompted, users should follow the on-screen instructions to complete their verification. Once the additional challenge has been passed, a green checkmark will appear, and the user may proceed with their original request.
