Data Center Relocation
April 24, 2020 - 2:06 p.m.
This is a reminder that the National Finance Center (NFC) will be migrating its production data center on Saturday, April 25, 2020, beginning at 7:00 a.m. central time (CT). Applications will be available from the new location at 6:00 p.m. CT on April 25.
Data Center Migration Testing — Systems Unavailable
April 10, 2020 - 3:17 p.m.
The National Finance Center (NFC) will be conducting testing for the data center migration beginning Saturday, April 11, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., central standard time through Sunday, April 12, 2020. As a result, all of NFC’s production environments in Denver will be unavailable during this time.
Data Center Migration Testing
April 7, 2020 - 4:15 p.m.
The date for the National Finance Center’s (NFC) data center migration is April 25-26, 2020. Most of you with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) have completed phase 1 of the testing and we appreciate your diligence. Several of you participated with us in phase 2 testing and we appreciate your efforts. Those of you with VPNs that have not yet been established and tested, please work with our contacts to get them completed as soon as possible.

This is an update to the National Finance Center (NFC) Data Center Migration – Systems Unavailable notification issued on March 19, 2020. In preparation for the migration of the data center, NFC production applications will be unavailable on Saturday, April 11, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. until Sunday, April 12, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. central time (CT).

The date for the National Finance Center’s (NFC) data center migration is fast approaching. Most of you with Virtual Private Networks (VPN) have completed Phase 1 of the testing and we appreciate your diligence. Those of you with VPNs that have not yet been established and tested, please work with our contacts to get them completed as soon as possible.
Data Center Migration — Systems Unavailable

In preparation for the migration of the National Finance Center (NFC) Data Center, NFC production applications will be unavailable on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until Sunday at 6:00 p.m. central standard time (CST) on the following dates:
  • March 28-29, 2020
  • April 11-12, 2020
Data Center Migration Date Change
January 6, 2020 - 4:54 p.m.
Due to challenges in configuring National Finance Center (NFC) systems to operate in the new environment, along with the upcoming challenges of supporting year-end processing and pay raise activities, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has decided to delay the migration of NFC’s Denver Data Center to the Digital Infrastructure Services Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Reminder - Data Center Migration
December 13, 2019 - 8:13 a.m.
This is a reminder of the upcoming migration of the National Finance Center’s (NFC) Denver Computing Facility to the USDA’s Digital Infrastructure Services Center in Kansas City. The migration is scheduled for the weekend of February 15, 2020. We will perform quality assurance tests prior to the migration on the weekends of January 18th and February 1st. These weekends will give our partners a chance to verify connectivity and functionality to our new data center location in a simulated production mode.

After careful review of our Data Center Relocation Plan, and taking into concern the impact of the production cutover date on our business partners, the National Finance Center, in conjunction with USDA’s Digital Infrastructure Services Center and the Centers of Excellence, have changed the migration date for the data center relocation.
Data Center Migration – Response Needed by June 21, 2019

The National Finance Center’s (NFC) data center relocation will require communication partner actions related to the changes in Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for NFC’s forward facing systems. While NFC’s public domain names (NFC.USDA.GOV, MVS.NFC.USDA.GOV, WEBTA.NFC.USDA.GOV, etc.) will remain, the underlying IP addresses that those names resolve to will be affected.
