REPT 20-01, New Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Certificate

Summary

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has a new 2020 Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Certificate, to reduce the form's complexity and to increase transparency and accuracy in the withholding system. The redesigned Form W-4 no longer uses the concept of withholding allowances, which was previously tied to the amount of the personal exemption.

The following new W-4 fields are being added to the Workforce Profile subject area/Workforce Biweekly folder and PACS Tax subject area/Employee folder:

  • Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works
  • Total Amounts Claim Dependents
  • Other Income
  • Other Deductions

The following data elements are being added to the Workforce Profile subject area/Workforce Biweekly folder and PACS Tax subject area/Employee folder:

Note: The Filing Status and Extra Deductions fields used for both the old W-4 and the new W-4.
