INQUIRY 20-12, Removal of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-2 Password within the Employee Personal Page (EPP) and Availability of W-2 for Use in TurboTax or At Home

Published: December 29, 2020
Effective: January 1, 2021

Summary

The 2020 Tax Year IRS Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, is expected to be available for users in January 2021.

The National Finance Center (NFC) has worked with TurboTax and At Home to allow employees that use TurboTax and At Home to access their W-2 information directly from those applications. When signing into TurboTax or At Home, employees will be prompted to enter their Social Security number (SSN) and gross salary as displayed on their 2020 W-2. Once they access the application, employees should follow the TurboTax or At Home instructions provided.

Note: Employees will still have access to their IRS Form W-2 in EPP. This new process will replace the previous process of importing W-2 information through EPP using a specific W-2 password.

In support of this new enhancement, NFC has automatically changed the employee's W-2 password to match the gross salary as displayed on the 2020 W-2. The employee will no longer have the ability to change this password in EPP. The W-2 password field is being removed from the application.
